But you've said the company never owned the properties, so the company has nothing to do with his continuing to own and let the properties.

You have said you sent the money to the company's bank account, the company never owned the property so, on the face of it, you did not invest in the properties.
Good point! But he withdrew the money from the company bank account to refurbish the properties.

I have checked the land registry and the properties were purchased in HIS name. There is no mention of the company on there.

    Perfectly legal then.

To be honest I think we all are a little confused as the circumstances surrounding this whoe transaction are somewhat unclear.

However I think CKhalvashi's last comment refers to the fact that the company never owned the properties so dissolving the company has no impact on the property ownership. You really need to print off records of all contacts with your 'friend', write a complete diary of your recollection of events and then get someone, with experience of these sorts of matters, to review the information to give you an idea of what chance you have of recovering your money.

You're not going to get a definitive answer on these forums as we don't have enough information (and I suspect not really the expertise to give a definitive answer).

For what it's worth my view is that, either your 'friend' set out with the intent to defraud you or made some bad decisions, although I'm erring towards the first option.
