MS Update and old version of Office

I should have asked this question a long time ago but never quite got round to it. I've finally decided enough is enough, so I hope someone can help.
When I bought my laptop 3 years ago I installed Office 2007. About a year after that I became a student again and took the opportunity to buy a full version of Office 2010, which is what I've been using happily for the last 2 years.
Despite having tried to uninstall all traces of Office 2007 (and nothing shows up in the control panel programme list) Microsoft Update continually asks me to download and install updates for it, as well as the Office 2010 updates. Is there something I can do to fully remove 2007 so that updates are no longer listed?
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.
Edit: I should have said that the reason I don't just let the Office 2007 updates download and apply is that I'm on slow broadband line (under 0.5 Mbps) so I try to avoid big downloads unless they are vital.

Zut alors! I downloaded MicrosoftFixit50154 and ran it, it chugged away doing things (although it's not clear what as I couldn't see that it created a log), I've rebooted, all to no avail, the list of Office 2007 updates is still the same.
Any other thoughts on what I could try, or should I just do what I have for the last 2 years and ignore it?0
