I save £100 a month in an interest free relatives &friends saving scheme-Each month 1 person recieves £1200 pounds -its easy but its best to only club together with people you trust to avoid any mishaps. Its handy when you need a lump sum quickly wihtout paying interests which a loan would include. We wrote everybodys names on paper and pulled them out of a box, then whoevers name came first got the first £1200 amount and so on.If people want to swap places they can do but have to inform others and it doesnt have to be £100 a month if its unaffordable, some people club together to pay £50 a month and they would get £600 when their turn came.
I also save £15 a month by s/o in a hsbc instant saving account to pay towards unexpected phone bills or any fashion purchases such as bags or even contact lenses/glasses etc, £10 a month in a natwest saver which is just saving for nothing at the moment(have £210 so far) and any loose change gets saved and bagged up to go into the same aswell.I save £10 a month at home in an old jewellery box for birthday gifts for nephews &nieces and if anyhting gets left over i use that towards makeup treats for myselfLove can tame the wildest0 -
Good post OP...I am not saving anything as such at the moment as I throw everything spare at the debts I have...I save all our £2 coins and little change and use them for our CC payments along with my IB and hubbys occupational pension....and the earnings from the cab pay all the other bills...unfortunately I've just had a major op so can't work for 6 months...would love to save though0

i am so manic about saving now that i've paid all of my debts off. i save £400 a month towards paying my mortgage off early and put £130 a month into a seperate account each month to pay for christmas, birthdays, DD's after school clubs, car tax and MOT, and B&C house insurnace. it doesn't leave me a huge ammount each month but it all goes out as soon as i get paid and all my month bills are paid by Direct Debit so i then know exactly what i have got left each month as "my" money SC XXslowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T0

I save £90 a month into an isa. It is really for the boys as it is most of their child benefit. I also save £2 coins which I use to pay for treats over half term (eg going on the London Eye one time)
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

We save at least £800 a month to pay off our debt and pay for our wedding in florida. Our aim is to pay as much debt off as possible by the time of our wedding. We both have loans that we can't over pay on so are just saving like mad to get a lump sum together.0

Im looking forward to August when I should be able to save around £700 per month. It sounds like a lovely amount and cant actually wait!! Although the first months savings will go on a holiday for me and my 7 yr old daughter as a treat, but will continue to live as we have been since my lightbulb moment as I feel that it has brought us closer (going to the park, and finding free things to do with each other, rather than - I'm ashamed to say - sitting in front of Sky watching poo) and had taught us both the value of money. I will also give her pocket money, where I hope that I will be able to teach her how to deal with money (the curriculum wont - but should). Ooooh I cant wait...0

My whole savings/debt thing is weird at the moment. I throw lots of money into a high interest savings account - I'm self employed, and get those tax bills every six months (Karmacat chants determinedly: I'm happy to pay my bills:j) . And of course, when I do take time off, which even self employed people have to do, I don't get paid, so there has to be some money put by for that, plus advertising etc. I also have to spend serious money later this year on getting the house rewired and replumbed (fire engine outside the house late last year was a fairly certain indicator of this:eek:, plus a plumber putting a danger notice on my hot water tank about 3 years ago
, because of a potential leak, not the electrics). I have an Ing Direct account that I've mentally labelled as being for mortgage overpayments, which I've just worked out is the most sensible form of debt reduction for me, but unless my second job pays off big time, it'll go on the electrics etc.
The short answer is that everything possible gets transferred to a savings account of one form or another: today I had to buy some summer jeans, and some sunglasses (can't live on the south coast without sunglasses!) and spent a total of £17 on these two items - I'll buy as cheap as I can, for what I *have* to buy, one treat a month of £10-15 or so, and everything else goes to savings.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Last year we saved for Xmas with familly savings. The wife got £200 of high street vouchers. This year as we started in Jan so the payments are less.
I would love to save more, but never manage it. We are hoping to put a lump sum in the savings account this month for any emergancies.
