Does anyone save weekly/monthly?
If so how much do you try to save? What are you saving towards?
Any money saving ideas would also be welcomed x

I'll start saving when I've paid off my debts.
However I do save £2 coins and finders keepers money to pay for Christmas.0 -
I put money away, on a monthly basis, for
a) Son's School Uniform
b) Car Tax.
It might not pay for the whole expense but at least the money saved covers the majority of the expense.
I save with ING Direct for the simple reason I can put the money in pots for each specific reason without getting it all mixed together.2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

£15.88 saved to date0 -
yes... i save monthly £18 towards christmas and as i started it early that will give me £216.00 for xmas, then this month i have started to save to move out... so far i only have £70 because in this month i have became debtfree also... when i get into my stride though i will save at least £300 a month (but i am on quite a low wage) i need roughly £1,800 to move out... i am still deciding though if i should before i move out save 3* my monthly wage (this will be £2,250) before i move out... dont know yet
edit ~ and of course i have my copper pig and my 5p tin0 -
I save about £200 a month.
This covers House insurance, car insurance, MOT/Service/Repairs, car taxes, Christmas, Birthdays - all yearly spends.
It goes into one savings account (at a great rate obviously!) and is split on my spreadsheet into sections. ie the £200 a month is split £20 Xmas and £20 Birthdays, £10 hse Ins etc. I know then how much of the savings account is for each individual thing.
PS - I also have 2 emergency funds. One is static - there is enough to cover (just!) 3 months very basic bills should OH lose his job, and the other fund I add about £10-£15 a month and is my real emergency fund, eg should the fridge die or hoover explode.0 -
Yes, I save every month. £40 per month towards Christmas and £40 per month for emergencies. I also save my £2 coins. I really would like to save more, but until I've paid everything off I can't do it.0

God I wish I was so prepared like other for all eventualities.
I dont save set amounts per month as I'm trying to become DF in the shortest time possible and savings never really came into my mind as something I should do..... I blame my age
However I do save £2 coins and 20p's and 5p's ( I HATE 5P'S!!!), and I think I've got something like £220 combined in all those pots.
I'm saving that toward a holiday for my and the BF when I'm debt free to New York/Montana, we havent decided which yet!!!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Now that we've got no debt, we try to save around £150 - £200 a week, but doesn't always happen! We're saving for the proverbial rainy day, and to get DH a mobility scooter, possibly a new car and we're moving house in a few weeks as the landlord has sold the one we're renting - thus any savings we have by then will soon be gone! Oh well.BCSC # 9 and proud! :beer:0

Hi
I have 2 ATM till all debt is cleared in hopefully 4-5 more payments:D
£60pm for DD's grammar school account. This seems alot but covers all her uniform, special books and other stuff she needs and goes abroad with the school once a year.
£50pm into the holiday fund. This totals to £600 per year but we get 2 full weeks holidays in school holidays and 1-2 weekends away.
I budget £75pw on food and diesel and any left over which is normally about £20+ per week I save to a misc account. I paid an extra £500 off the CC last month and have about £500 in savings for emergencies.
Once our CC's are paid in August time, I dont know what we will spend our money on. Would love a conservatory and jobs finished properly around the home, but we shall see.

Hi
I bought a mobility scooter from Ebay about 10 months ago for £330 inc delivery. Its lightweight and easy to use. I cant walk far and if I dont use this my OH has to wheel me everywhere...although he needs the exercise:D
