Is anyone here in receipt of personalisation?
I am in the process of applying but find it very confusing and am trying to look for more information to understand it better.
i have been told its fine for me to have a pa but the social worker needs to work out how many hours i am entitled to.
but i have been told to list all the things i would like help with and to write what outcomes i want from the help.
i have been given a sample statement to read but a lot of it does not apply to me.

Do you have a local benefits advice group or centre e.g Dial they should be able to help you complete the form either that or the CABSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -
Personalisation is probably describing a "personal health budget" (PHB) or "individual budget" (IB) or "direct payment" scheme.
They're not meant to assign you fixed hours; it's meant to be a cash amount for you to spend as you see fit to meet your health needs, within some previously agreed boundaries. However, a lot of local authorities do give you fixed hours anyway, or calculate the cash value by using a basic hourly wage multiplier (ie, instead of saying you get £96.48 per week in your budget, they'll say you get "two hours single cover per day" at £6.89 per hour). But you may be able to get more flexibility if you push.
In my experience, the paperwork load is staggering and amazingly redundant. It took more work to run my husband's old IB than it does to run my business. Insist on them paying for an accountant to run the finances. The stacks of pointless forms magically disappeared once our providers were paying a professional to fill them in.
There's a lot of stuff online about this, but as each council and health commissioning board runs its own scheme, it's hard to point you to the right place. Google "PLACENAME manage my personal budget" and you'll get there. Good luck.0 -

thank you for your replies.
from what i have been told, it appears to be very strict, every hour has to be accounted for in the plan, i have been working on a personal statement and hope to submit it tomorrow.0 -
i have a personal budget of 110.00 per week.
I was assessed by social services the first time and the mental health team just recently.
I don't know about personal statements never had to write one. My personal budget goes direct to the organization that provides my care:j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0 -
i receive payments for a PA.
i was extremely lucky in that my social worker completely sorted it all out for me. all i had to do was dign my name.
i was allocated a certain amount of hours per week, based on the amount that they would expect a PA to be paid.
but when employing a PA, you need to factor in national insurance/liability insurance costs into the total amount.
i also use a payroll company who also manage the bank account that the payments are deposited in.
ove the course of the year, this costs about £250, so this also needs to be budgeted for.
its well worth it for the convenience.
all i have to do is send a timesheet off every 4 weeks, and everything else is done for me0 -
thanks i asked a friend to help me with my statement which is helping a lot as its easier to write with someone supporting you and helping you get your thoughts together.
another appointment next week, i really hope the social worker agrees it is ok to send it as he just said it will take a while to put into place as you want a PA.
i added the payroll stuff to the statement as there are lots of headings
one being how you will manage your budget as they need to see you are capable of managing the money, there are actually a lot of subheadings!
I feel like i will be dead by the time it gets put in place and then all the cost of the assessments, the paperwork, the cost of the services i have used will all have been for nothing.
thank you all for your replies and the information you have shared with me.0 -
I have been given the hourly rate now, it is very low for London.
Now waiting to see how many hours i will be given. It does seem odd though, compared to what i thought personlisation was, i thought i would get x amount and i could choose the amount per hour i want to pay the P.A0
