I'd beware of the company - any help from private firms like this usually comes at a cost! Just remember to factor in money for repairs if you go for buying and also ask about any repairs on the outside of the building that need doing (if it's a flat) - the bill for this can be sudden and hefty depending on its age. At the moment, you have a secure home and no looming repair bills. Added to this, the economy is looking shaky. if I were you I'd leave it a year till you are back in work and stable, plus know how much money you have to play with each month. By then, your partner's CCJs or whatever may have been wiped also? In that case, you'll get a better mortgage rate and lower monthly payments. As for how to buy, on this site I think one of the stickies has a checklist also.0

hi thanks to allwho replied to my pot, we have decided to hold off for a while, and think about it in a while, the time isnt right yet!! Thanks again for all the replies, its stopped us jumping in too quickly without considering other options!0

Good idea. If you aren't looking to move then I wouldn't buy it now. I'd wait until the market turns or at least stagnates a bit. If you buy near what surely must be the peak with interest rates on the up then you might find yourself in trouble. It might be 2yrs,5yrs even 10yrs but some day this bubbles gonna burst!0

hi i think most of the other comments you have received are untrue. i dealt with its your right before and service was fantastic. they do everything for you there is a fee but is no where in the region of £2000 and it was added into the mortgage therefore i didn't have to pay huge sum upfront. i think you should definitely consider it. you can also get info on there website or helpline no. which is www.itsyouright.co.uk the number is on there and it explains the whole process. hope this is useful to you.0

LOL Whatever their fee is, it's too much. It is very simple to buy your council or housing association property.
1. Go the council and get the forms.
2. Fill them in. ( if you find any questions you don't understand, ask)
3. Hand them in.
4. Wait. They will value the house and get back to you with the price.
5. Visit a Mortgage Advisor to see what your options are.
None of the above will cost you 1 penny. You are not committed to anything at any of the above stages.
If you have any questions either come back here and ask or find someone you know who has some knowledge of this, or go to the council and ask.0 -
no, we are not in a position to get a mortgage properly, and as we will qualify for a 6 year discount (anyone know how much discount that is by the way??) we thought this would be really our only chance to get on the property ladder.
To me that's the best property ladder of all to be on.0 -
