Egg CC Limits for BTs

I've read on the site that there is a suggested maximum limit to put onto an Egg card before SBTing out to a savings account?

The amount quoted was £5k before it starts arousing suspicion for laundering??

Whats the general concensus? I've just managed to get a couple of cards and was thinking of maybe £3k and £4.5k being put onto Egg as a credit balance, using as a conduit, and then immediately transferring them out to savings accounts?

Anyone had any problems with a couple of transactions in quick succession??

Well I transferred a credit balance of £22,000 onto my Egg card 2 months ago and I haven't had any policemen come knocking on my door.

Another £5,000 credit is on its way to my bank account via Egg as I write.

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong but this is hypothetical. While in theory it could happen it never has.
  • Have transferred 15K off mine with no come back... ::)
Are you sure it wasn't 50k??

I've heared the £5000 limit mentioned as well. But I might have read about it on the fool's board. I don't know how reliable this as. As others say, they have got away with much more than this in the past.

If you are worried you could put the card in credit in chunks of £4500 at a time and SBT each off seperately. This will take longer but might give you peace of mind.

Not really sure what the worry is, ???MBNA offered to transfer 15.000k into our bank. After all we are not laundering illegal money. :-/

I assume you took £15000 off a card with a zero balance at 0%? This is okay I think. This is not money laundering -- its borrowing.

I think the problem is if you put the MBNA card in credit by more than £5000 then MBNA get all touchy about it.
This might look like money laundering. You should get your money back eventually but it might take longer.
  • Have done all sorts of deals not only with zero balance. We often use EGG as a mule. Maybe we should be worried but have had no probs so far...
  • Could the answer be to actually "borrow" the money from the SBT cards first, then balance transfer to the other card. May involve a few days interest, but could be the safer option.
