Ideas for Midweek Budget Holiday Uk/Spain

I've been with my new partner for 4 months now and he has a gorgous 5 year old son that he has with him every weekend. As just the two of us we have been out on lots of day trips and Ive got a planned day trip to the zoo for the 3 of us this weekend.
I've decided it would be nice to go on a UK holiday together with his mum too. My first idea was the sun holidays but we have restricted dates of Monday 5th August to Friday 9th of August. Sun holidays arent in August. I then thought I'd look up the parks directly and had a near heart attack when I realised it was gonna cost over £400 for 4 days for 4 of us!
For any parent reading this, you'll smile when I say....OMG!!! How Much!!! I've spent my entire adult life never knowing how much extra things cost when you have children.
So my question is: What do families do for a Midweek Budget holiday near a beach ideally Devon/Cornwall/Dorset or Wales. Or even somewhere abroad like spain or the islands?
I've searched lots of sites, and to be honest keep going back on myself several times. So wondered if all my neighbours in MSE can help with this one!
Many thanks in advance

Hi we are thinking of booking four nights in a pine lodge at oakcliff holiday park in Dawlish Warren in devon it's £360 for that. I've looked at lots of places online and this Is the most reasonable thing I've found for August that's not a dump!0

camping.... in august anythin else costs a fortune with children. obviously if you have to buy all the camping stuff then you stuck there.
but near the coast in august nothing will be very cheap unfortunatly.0 -
I suppose there is value for money and value of money but £400 is just money not what you get for it . As others said places are expensive in the kids holidays as holiday parks & homeowners want to try to get a peak price for what is really a short "peak" period. Also to buy a midweek often encounters new problems in peak periods (If someone is in from sat/sat then the next person is Monday/Fri its difficult to fill the sat/sun nights the a lost following friday if you have a sat/sat booking after) I like to keep all peaks sat/sat esp for a August break booked in January. On a plus its great to read grown up people with a toddler can behave in a grown up way for the good of the kid. Hats off to you all & good luck with your booking. *Fishdude we let our lodge in the kids summer hols for £500pw* Its just £500 until you know what you get then its either worth it or not . (we are full for the dates above sat/sat sorry) hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
