I'm looking for laptop recommendations for a friend.
They want to view and edit photographs. It will not be connected to the internet.
Any ideas?

64bit OS with a large amount of RAM is probably a good idea in which case (allows lots of undo states to be held in memory).0

If you have next to no budget, it looks pretty decent. Pentium CPU plenty quick enough for photoshopping, and 8gb ram will let you undo to your hearts content0 -
Not really been given a budget, lets say up to £500 max but lower than this is better
I was thinking screen size 15" minimum and maybe even a 17" as it won't be taken outside the house.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Anything £250 upwards will do it easily http://www.dmxdimension.com/dell-uk/inspiron-15-deals-codes-coupons/!!

15.6" usually have more choice. 17.3" would have better screen resolution. If it is for photo edit, I think it would be better going for 17.3".
This acer seems cheap for its spec

By the way, if it is not going to take out of the house, why not going for desktop?0 -
If there's no need for mobility then desktop sounds the way to go, it sounds much more suited to the task. For any serious photo editing you would need to be sat at a desk/table with a mouse anyway and you can get a bigger screen, bigger is better when working with photos0

First thing anyone need to know is, what photo editing software will be used.
Free programs like gimp, photoplus and so on will run virtually on any machine. But if photoshop then any £299 or £399 will struggle, will work but struggle.
Also go for as a big a screen as possible.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -

Limited space to have set up all the time. It will be used on the kitchen table.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
