DLA disability premium query?

i am currently on high rate mobility component and middle rate personal care of dla.

is it true that there is a disability premium paid with this?

i have received this allowance for approx 10 years, and if so, will this premium be backdated?

:o

As far as I am aware the Disability Premium is applied to Income Support /ESA and Housing/Council tax benefit. If you are in receipt of any of these it will be calculated automatically - it is not something generally that you have to apply for.

It applies if you receive middle /high rate care DLA you live alone (unless living with someone who also gets middle /high rate DLA) and no one gets Carers allowance for you

To receive any premium you also need to be eligible for an income related benefit such as Income Support or ESA(IR).

If you do get one of these, then you should get the Disability Premium if you are receiving IS but not not if you are receiving ESA(IR).

If you live alone then you can get the Severe Disability Premium on both IS and ESA(IR). There are circumstances where you can be classed as living alone even if there is someone else lives in the house, however, if this person who works is your partner, then this would not apply.

Isn't the TWENTY YEARS of free money without so much as a medical enough for you?
  • This isn't he first time Spellkaster has been told she isn't eligible for income based premiums on this board.

Sorry Spellkaster but £51.85 middle rate care, £54.05 high rate mobility £105.50 Contributions Support ESA and in your own words no rent no mortgage and a partner who brings home after deductions £24k after deductions so that works out about top line of £32000 per annum

so into your household between two of you, you have 35k p/a income AFTER deductions no mortgage and no rent and you want the UK taxpayer to subsidise your washing machine !!!! Welcome to planet reality get your caring sharing OH to dip in his pockets !!!
