Double glazing quote

Just received this back from a local window company (Shropshire) for all my windows and doors replaced.
I'm in a 1960's 3 bed semi which i moved into in 2011.
The current windows are over 20+ years old, wooden and most of them the seals have gone and are full of condenstation.
Does this seem resonable to people?
"To supply and fit 9 white uPVC windows, 1 white uPVC door and side window and 1 white uPVC patio door all glazed with clear or patterned low ‘e’ argon filled double glazed sealed units (toughened where necessary) and fitted with white shootbolt locking handles. The door glazed with a white uPVC panel from the attached leaflet and fitted with white hardware and the patio door glazed with toughened safety glass double glazed sealed units and fitted with white hardware all for £3395.00 in. vat
Please note that this price includes all labour and materials and the disposal of the old frames. I have attached a CAD drawing for your records.
If you wish fabrication to commence a 25% deposit is required. The deposit, along with the 10 year guarantee that we offer are both insured through the Independent Warranty Association. I have attached a leaflet which explains this further. "
The frames are Rehau 70mm.
Any advice on things to look out for etc? This is my first home so i'm new to having to have windows replaced.
The company is FENSA registered.
I did get a quote early last year from an annoying safestyles salesman who wouldn't leave without giving me a quote. He started off at £14000 but came down to £5800 after all his "calling the manager" routine. I told him to get on his bike.

It seems pretty reasonable. I used one of these comparison sites quotes to compare.com and ended up getting a few calls from some companies saying i had been matched to them, we ended up paying just shy of £5k for 13 windows and 2 doors, all in, from a company called Crytal Windows, based in Romford. Work was done promptly and we've had no issues so far. The wife was dreading all the salesman nonsense you hear about but actually these guys weren't your typical double glazing bunch and didn't keep us hostage for ages whilst drinking all our tea.:)0

We had a same number windows plus French doors and new front door fitted last year for just over £4000 so that estimate looks cheapish.. but we are in London so would expect it to be a bit dearer.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Just had another quote back, quite a bit more expensive.
"All costs inc vat @ current rate of 20% inc installation. Glass costed for equivalent A rated window, please note we can slightly reduce the cost for a lower specification glass still complying to the legal requirements of 1.6WKm/2.

Total Cost: £4,713 inc. VAT

I agree with BigFlex, use a comparison site. I used one last year to get a price for my conservatory after i had already been given some pretty hefty quotes, research my car insurance online (small potatoes) so why not do the same for the house (big potatoes). Try upvcwindowsprices, org,uk seems like the same sort of thing.
p.s. did anyone see Mr Martin Lewis on Countdown.......legend!!0 -
Check if the quote included VAT also I would recommend not handing over a penny until you are 100% satisfied.
TIP: whenever I have any expensive work done I always call another workman and ask them to check it for me. I pay them for their time but the small expense can save you a fortune.0 -
Thank you all for your replies.
The first company I stated has come back and stated the total cost to have a composite door and anti bump locks fitted would make the cost [FONT="]£3739.00 inc. vat.
Second company came back to me with a altered price after I informed them their quote was a lot higher than others I have received.
The new amended details are as followed:

Anyone know if there are any obvious reason i'm not aware of why two companies in the same area quotes differ by £976?
I've also had a third quote back from an installer however he doesn't manufacture the windows, he gets them from a company in Stoke whereas the other two companies above manufacture their windows themselves.
He also isn't FENSA registered, is this important?
His quote is as follows:
Price is based on survey on Saturday morning. All frames in white UPVC internal glaze 15 year guarantee on glass and frames. Total 10 windows. One patio. And one front door first price with key door supply and fit £4048.Add £275 for composite door.lintel over patio supply and fit in LA to external brickwork £220.
Quote totals:
1) [FONT="]£3739.00 inc. vat. - fensa registered
2) £4715.00 inc vat. - fensa registed
3) £4523.00 inc vat - not fensa registered
All with a composite door and anti bump cylinders on front door and patio door.
Thanks all
