Low memory on D drive

Hi
I am running a two month old Acer laptop.
The memory is split between two drive, 25GB on each.
My D drive ios showing there is only 1.18GB of free space.
On looking on the drive I cannot see where all the memory could have gone.
The other drive is about 50% full.
I have no music or photos on the computer and only have basic programs, Anti Virus, Ant Spyware, Firewall etc. The only program I have added is Office 07.
I have scanned and defragged etc but I still cannot see where all the memory has gone.
Any ideas?
