Firefox bookmark json file

Hi I have a backup of my Firefox Bookmarks However I cannot access it because of it being a json file. How do I convert it to a file that I can open?

Do you need to import it into another browser or just read the bookmarks from it?

You can import them back into Firefox then export the bookmarks as HTML, that'll then be readable by any browser and will open as webpage with a list of links.

JSON is a simple character-based data format, so you should be able to open it in any text editor (e.g. Notepad++).

If the data is compacted onto a single line you can format it by selecting it all and cut'n'pasting to http://jsonlint.com/ and clicking the Validate button.

The format does encode some characters as it needs to disambiguate pieces of text from the characters used to delimit the start and end of text. If this is a problem a quick search on Google throws up a few JSON viewers though I have not tried any of them.

Its been a while since i've used FF, but you should be able to go into "Manage Bookmarks" and on one of the menus you should find "Import". Or, on the file menu you'll find a generic "Import..." and you can select the file.

Just one more question. It's about Firefox History. I looked at my History and I notice August 2012 isn't there. Is there anyway of recovering my History?
