RBS Bank Charges

Hi there,

I opened an RBS Current Account a while ago now with a £500 overdraft but me being me I spent it all with no way of paying it back. I obviously recieved charges for this and I agreed to a payment plan (£44 a month) to bring it back under £500 to stop charges now after this had completed I set up a standing order of £10 a month just to slowly take it down and then I could forget about it (I don't use the account.) However I thought I should just check and now I find I have been charged once again.

I am thinking of claiming my charges back, however because I have never really put money in other than the payment plan I am worried they'll just say no and take it all the way - but do you think I will still have a case?

Uhh, also does anyone know the address to write to to ask for copies of bank charges for past 6 years?

Well, £44 on £500 seems like an awful lot for a payment plan for a start!!
Anyway, with regards to the fact that you've never really used the acct, i can't see why that should stop you claiming back the charges they are still putting on it. The worst that they will do is try to close the account down, and if there is still a balance they will ask for it back. If that happened, you would probably benefit from putting together an Income and Expenditure showing how much you can afford to pay off the balance each month (bearing in mind that unlike loans, credit cards, etc, there is no timescale for paying off an overdraft). Then hopefully they will accept the amount you offer.
    Hope this helps.
