I was recently declined from a Secured Card to a Progress, could it be this reason? I've had the secured for a year now, paid off in full each month. I passed all the initial credit checks online but got a letter later saying that it had been declined.

Yeah, I think it's ok to go from a Classic to a Progress, but Capital One are saying that a Secured Card is just the same as a Classic - Clearly not.

They should make this clear on their website, when I called to be told the application was canceled, the guy said that any search on my report would be taken off; a couple of days later it's still there... :(

Just to confirm I just called them and apparently it wasn't "declined" it was "cancelled" as you're not allowed to have two Capital One cards. Unfortunately I applied for their Capital One Classic Extra card thinking it was because of my credit rating still.

Is there seriously not a simpler way to upgrade? I called and had two departments confirm that I have to cancel the current card and wait two weeks for the current card to be fully cancelled then apply basically as a new customer. Why can't there just be an internal system that closes my secured card and opens a Progress?

But there's no guarantee you'd be accepted, so it could all be a waste of time!!!

The process can take up to 30 days and removal may not show on your Equifax/Experian reports for two months. So check again March/April time.
