Ignition (Battery) Ford Focus 1999
Having trouble starting my car as when i turn the ignition it seems to take about a good 10 seconds before it will start.
Had a new battery fitted and later on in the day i experienced the same problem however i have noticed its only on the first time i start the car and after thats its fine.
I took the car back to where i had the battery fitted and he thinks its not the starter motor but it could be a sensor that needs calibrating.
Any ideas or solutions to what the problem could be.
Thanks,

Could it be the starter motor sticking. The first time is difficult but once the starter has moved and is freed it gets easier ?????Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Explain wont start in detail.
So it turns over normally not slower than normal before it starts?
Or does it turn slower when cold and faster after its been running?
Petrol/Diesel?
No sensors to calibrate on a focus. God knows what they are on about there.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

On a car that age it could be worn piston rings, it could also be old or incorrect excessively low viscosity engine oil.
When a car turns over fast enough, but takes an age to start, then runs perfectly well, your probably looking at loss of compression. Both of the above will cause this.......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
