sick pay and other benefits

Hi there. I'm not sure if anybody posted something like this before or not, but I'm gonna give a try. Recently I've broken my leg and obviously can't work for few months because of that. I'm getting sick pay which is 85 pounds but that's only incomes I've got. My rent is 325 per month which I can hardly afford now. Is there any other benefits I could try to claim as my sittuation is pretty bad. Ps. I'm 21, sharing studio flat with other adult (325 each), no kids, no family.

The CAB website gives a lot of useful info but if SSP is your only form of income you may be eligible for housing benefit and / or council tax benefitSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

What's your line of work? Unless you're a footballer or taxi/HGV/any other sort of driver I'm not sure why that means you can't work?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
It is up to the OP'S GP to decide whether he is fit for work or not when deciding whether to issue fit notes. The reason for the absence is not relevant to his/her query as to what benefits may be available to support him/her during an envisaged prolonged absence from work.
The only relevance may be if when the GP is having the discussion about fit notes they may discuss ammended duties if possible with you which would be recorded on the fit note as whether (in the GP's opinion) the Op is unfit for work / fit taking account of the gp's advice e.g ammended duties adaptations etc.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

I work in restaurant and my leg is in the cast atm. Can't walk- can't work.0

I assume that you are in a relationship with the other adult. If so, can't they help you out for a few months until the leg is working?0

What is your relationship to the person you share with?0

If you do claim housing benefit and council tax you will need to advise them on whether you are living with the other person as part of a couple or are flat mates with seperate financial statuses. (Non dependents)
If you are a single person who has been renting a self-contained place from a private landlord, you will be able to claim local housing allowance (LHA) to cover the rent on a one-bedroom place so long as:
you were able to pay your own rent when you moved into your home and
have not claimed LHA in the past year.
You will be able to claim for your full rent for the first 13 weeks. After 13 weeks, the maximum you will get will be limited to the shared accommodation rate – the same as you would get for renting a single room in a shared house in your area.
However, if you’ve been in your place for less than a year, you’ll be limited to the shared accommodation rate from the start of your claim.
The following do not count as non dependents -
joint tenants
subtenants
boarders
tenants of owner occupiers
landlords/ladies and their partners.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
