Asda coupon acceptance policy

Hi does anyone know what Asda is like about accepting coupons when the merchandise hasn't been bought?
If you know specifically about the Wembley branch that's an added bonus!
Thanks

Just bumping your Q a bit, altho I can't say specifically about your Asda I'm afraid.

For a while all Asda tills had some sort of block which stopped them accepting more than a couple of coupons without a Supervisor to clear it. It was because they had c@cked up the barcodes on their own magazine coupons around xmas, which were giving you more money off than they should.

I'm not sure whether the tills still call for a Supervisor to OK couponing as I don't shop there much. But in my area I know the policy in one Asda is ONE coupon (regardless of shop total), obviously I don't grace them with my presence now, ever....

But another Asda near here used to let you use any amount, sadly they have changed this to a max 10% (because of 'people getting stuff for free', it wasn't me though, it's too far away to bother with very often and I am usually in Tesco).

Maybe ask at CS when you go in, show them some of your mocs (manufacturers' ones only, not supermarket mag or book token ones as I know they don't take these).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I had a successful shop. To my utter suprise she acceptedt 2 x £2 pampers, £1 pampers, 50p youghurt and a 35p one(i had actually bought the product) didn't bat an eye, my total bill was £70 odd after the discounts.
I purposely picked her out because she had a nice friendly smile.
In the past I have been flatly refused.
I know who to look for next time!!

  • Hello there,

The ASDA store in Blyth, Northumberland, accepts coupons for up to 10% of your shopping value, even if you have not bought the product. I have not yet tried it with printed vouchers from the internet.

I have discovered that my Local asda (brighton marina) has stopped accepting any coupon at the self scan checkouts unless you buy the product!

It just says error "Unmatched Coupon".

Would this now be nationwide do you think? I had to pay full price for my shop!

My local had paper stuck over the self scan coupon slots and the cs staff won't take any coupons at all. (They won't even take coupons if you've bought the stuff !). They seem to have a very strict manager who puts the fear of God into them if they take a coupon!

A store a bit further away is much more relaxed and what they will take depends pretty much on who is on the checkout and what mood they are in.

A friend of a friend works part time in Asda Leyton and he told me they only take coupons if the item has been bought and a maximum of two only.

ASDA Oadby say 10% of total shop, but SA-manned till bleeps for supervisor if you put through more than 8 vouchers, no matter how low in value. I stick to 8 now and no more to prevent this, as supervisor scrutinises each one like a hawk in the hope of being able to refuse one, such as an internet printed coupon.

Having said the 10% thing, the other day I bought flowers only, to value of £14, and they took two magazine coupons worth £3.90 off me - go figure - but I was very happy :D
