Just beware fan heaters can trip the circuits in these sites. We always upgrade to one with heating in October, Easter is generally milder. Cooking seems to heat the place up nicely too!

all park resorts caravans have heating in the bedrooms and bathroom now :)

    edit:oops you are haven :(
  • I went on a sun holiday last october half term was freezing! only had a gas fire in the front room I also would never keep this on overnight.

I put the boys in thin pj's with fleece onsies over the top.
me an hubby took a sleeping bag an unzipped it to use as an extra layer over the duvet.

I also took a plug in heater for our bedroom (the other end of the caravan to the gas fire) like suggested put it so I could plug in without getting out of bed. Also soon as I woke up got up an put the gas fire on an went back to bed knew I would stay awake.
  • we used electric oil filled radiators normally its just us 2 so just take our one from home run it on low wich on ours is about 800watt-1kw. and we put that down the end near bedrooms with the doors open to let heat in and keep fire on all day. if you geting into bed when its warm its a lot easier to stay warm then also. and for kids maybe a hot water bottle also. then night times we would put the radiator in main living room and leave on all night so it dont get to cold as dont want a gas fire running all night.
  • We have a 4 yr ol and we take 2 heaters one is ours and one we borrow for each bedroom, thermals and fleecy pjs for little one and all our sleeping bags.
  • Normally go central heating, but for a short break last October without it, we took an oil filled radiator to take the chill off the hallway/rooms.

In the morning I'd put the fire on full, then light the 4 rings on the cooker for a wee while to take the chill out of the main area.
  • We stayed in Cornwall in a basic caravan over last Oct half term. We took our own duvets and fleece blankets, a fan heater, and hot water bottles. We were really cosy.
  • I've got a caravan with electric central heating in it which I let out at a very low price and the electric is included.

The way I keep the cold at bay is to start heating the rooms about 30 - 40 minutes before you go to bed. Use 2 hot water bottles per person so you can have one up your front and one up your back. Put your arms inside your clothes. Have a fluffy blanket next to your skin as this will feel warmer than a duvet. Put the duvet on top of the blanket. Also try and conserve heat during the day. If its a warmish day dont open the windows of the caravan, let the caravan build up natural heat and keep it in as much as you can. Shut the curtains as soon as it starts to get dark.
  • Electric underblankets are great to have. Very low wattage and can be left on whilst sleeping. If not cold underneath you won't be anywhere near as cold generally.
Got ours from Lidl for about £15 and variable temp control and timer control built in. Great pieces of kit for home and caravan/camping!

Definitely do not use gas fire overnight under any circumstances
  • Get hold of electric blankets and a provence or manhattan heater
