Gateway Building society - Superstar Account

Hello

Not sure if this is the right place but here it goes.

My partner and her grandma found a certificate for an old account that her grandma had in 87 with gateway building society.

The account was a "Superstar account" and looks like an investment account? I'm not sure what one of those is.

Now I know that the gateway building society is now Barclays bank, but i cannot find an information on the account type. does anyone have any knowledge of this account? and whether an account of that type would be still retrievable today?

Thank you in advance

Is this a serious question? Pop into a branch and ask them, of course. Or even ring them up.
  • Barclays merged Woolwich accounts a branch at a time and converted them to Barclays account numbers. From that point passbooks became redundant as Barclays does not use them...

Don't raise too many hopes, the existence of a certificate doesn't mean the funds haven't been returned.

Yes it was a serious question, I wasn't sure if they would have a specific department to deal with this kind of thing so don't be so rude.

Thank you all for the replies, I'm not holding out a lot of hope but it's worth a go.
