Best WPA version to use on router?

Hi, I'm currently using WEP encryption on my router's wireless setup (I know, I know), and I want to change it to the more secure WPA, although my router supports the following versions of WPA:
  • WPA-PSK
  • WPA2-PSK
  • WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK
  • WPA-802.1x
  • WPA2-802.1x
  • WPA-802.1x+WPA2-802.1x
I'm wondering which of these is the best one to use?

The "802.1x" options all require an authentication server for future reference.

Sorry to jump in here, but I am a total numpty on techi stuff. Just looked at my connection on here and it says WPA-PSK and then 802.1g Should I change this for more security and erm, how do I do it please? I have wireless to my laptop, netgear router with my desk top.

The first is the security setting; the second is the 'speed' of your wireless connection. Determining whether a change is necessary would require that we know the capabilities of both the router and any devices currently connecting to it.

The model numbers of the router and laptop should help. ;)
  • hethmar - I've got a Netgear DG834G router (if you look on the underside of the router there should be a large label showing a picture of the router, and the version is underneath that), which was the router sold by Carphone Warehouse when I joined TalkTalk.

Cheers - I'll change it over at the weekend when I've got some more time as I'll have to reconfigure my router and the USB WiFi dongle connected to my desktop PC.

If you've got a DG834G router like me, I can help you through the settings.
