Can anyone clear up some confusion about the tax return due before 31st Jan?
My friend worked freelance in 2012 for about 5 months. Does she have to do her self-assessment/tax return before the 31st Jan?
She says she does it next year because the tax year for 2012 runs in to April this year?

What dates in 2012 was she freelance ?0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗
Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

if she had earnings before 5th april 2012 then yes she needs to do a tax return before end of jan 2013
any earnings after 6th april 2012 need to be declared by end of jan 20140
