paid parking ticket in 2011...just been clamped in 2013 saying it hasn't been paid !

I remember that I paid a parking fine to the council in 2011 in cash...got a receipt. My car was clamped today and they said that the fine was outstanding.Of course I haven't the receipt anymore after this amount of time has passed. The clampers said that letters have been sent out to me...but I haven't received a thing ! Now they say it's going to cost £350 to release the car...and £30 per day if it isn't.Any suggestions ??????I

Go to the council and complain....or pay the money to get car and then complain.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Yes go to baliffadviceonline they can help you for a small fee of about £10 or so. Also try https://www.pepipoo.com on this. Have you changed address lately ? You need to contact the council on this tell them you have paid cash at their desk and ask about unallocated money at that time.

    I would cut it off.
If it has been placed illegally, it is not criminal damage.

You don't say where this happened, but in Scotland this is the only legitimate method to disable a vehicle, and it is done by Sheriff Officers with the full authority of the court.

It would be better to pay up sooner, then take the receipt you get to the Council and get the matter investigated.
  • was in wales
  • went back to council ...as they trolled through their records...again...they found the record...and all was dropped against me and I didn't have to pay a thing.

Incidentally if you have incurred any costs at on this, like taxi fares, or any out of pocket expenses make sure the council covers it, after all they caused this problem by their mistakes
