Warning: Emma's Diary selling personal contact info

Recently my girlfriend & I signed up to Emma's Diary on a recommendation from our doctor. Sadly we have since been bombarded with calls and emails from various companies, including E-on, trying to sell to us. We get 2 ring calls with no one at other end, autodialler I assume. When we quizzed E-on they freely admitted they'd got the details from Emma's Diary. We both ticked the no 3rd party contact box so are very unhappy with the site right now. Does anyne know where we stand regarding getting our details removed from their systems and getting them reported for Data Protection breach? I'm most angry because the last thing my gf needs right now is being pestered by sales calls which are just stressing her out now. And for a site recommended by GP's supposedly helping pregnant women it's a pretty despicable thing to do. Beware all if signing up on the site.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will also start to get calls regarding life insurance, they are really pressured calls asking what would happen to your new born baby if you suddenly died.
I was horrified at their tactics. I also ticked no contact by 3rd parties so was not impressed.
Emmas Diary are one of the worst for selling your details on to these kind of cold calling companies.

If you want to make a complaint then complain to the Information commissionerIf a man does not keep pace with his companions, then perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away. thoreau0

I think I may have to, will look on the website. And thanks Ladymarmalade, I don't look forward to the Life Insurance ones, sounds terrible. And probably the last thing you need.0

Ladymarmalade is spot on. I heard some awful stories when I was a member there. I very often do put a phone number belonging to one of these cold calling companies or a premium rate number down if they insist on a contact number .I don't see why you should HAVE to give your phone number to anyone you don't wish to.Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0

Yeah, tis annoying. I'm surprised the doctor recommended them to be honest. If it's going to get worse I need to get it sorted asap, before the gf goes potty down the phone to the next cold caller.0

If you don't want to give your phone number but the site insists on it then why not just make a "mistake" on one of the digits.
Better still give the number of the website company, it will be on the Contact Us page.0 -
I give out copies of "Emma's Diary" at work all day long, so this is really helpful. I shall tell my parents-to-be to use a false number or else use Jimbo's excellent suggestion of using the company number!
I do have a contact at the company, just someone who orders the books for our clinic. I will email her to ask if she has anyone to whom complaints should be directed. Will update here if I get a name/number."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Or find a number for an adult chat line to put into the website

The problem with putting one wrong digit on your phone number is that there's a chance that the number you entered belongs to someone else and they'll get all the calls.0 -
My daughter registered with Emma's diary 4 months ago and after someone else warning us about these calls she put our landline number down, but i havent had a phone plugged in for 2 years!0

Thanks for the warning. I just checked my profile on there and am verrry glad to see that I didn't put my phone number on there.0
