DLA Renewal Worry

Hi
This is my first post so please be gentle lol.
My Dla ends in June and after going through a tribunal five years ago I am dreading the whole process. I work full time altho I'm wheelchair bound, as I have 3 chronic conditions (lucky me!) and fortunately have a very helpful understanding employer who has adapted our work premises to meet my needs. I also have weekly chemotherapy treatment for one of my conditions but would rather go to work than stay at home as it gives me the motivation to get out of bed each day.
My question is does anyone know the process now that the system has changed? Will I still get my renewal pack or will I be called for an interview? I dread the post each day as I know how much work
It requires to fill out and there are so many horror stories of unfair treatment I just don't know where to turn. Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Hi here is the info for the timescales for introducing new PIP (which is replacing Dla)
October 2013 – if an individual reports a change in how a health condition or disability affects them, they reach the end of an existing award of DLA, or they are approaching the age of 16, then we will invite them to claim Personal Independence Payment.

From 2015 – we will start to contact everyone else receiving DLA (unless they report a change in how their health condition or disability affects them, or if their award is due to end). We will write to individuals in plenty of time and they do not need to contact DWP now.

So reading this if your award of Dla ends and nowt changes in your conditions till your award ends you will be asked to complete another Dla claim form and then eventually you will need to do a claim for for PiP when this is phased in .

You should get your renewal pack in the next 2 months if my dd's experience is anything to go by, received her forms in December for an April renewal, all went through as expected.

Neglecting anything else - at the moment you would be entitled to ESA support group - if your chemotherapy is 'tube based' - pills do not count.
(This will not be the case from April this year on)
