Not sure if this is a possible record, and confirmed the discounts with NPower.

I'm a very low user for gas, having central heating in a first floor new build, with flats to both sides as well as above. Previously lived in a very cold house for almost 20 years when growing up, so used to the cold. Currently two of us living in the flat, which has the two bedrooms.

KWH has been calculated on actual consumption over a full 12 month period. This is taking the metric readings, correction factor and CV into account.

We really don't feel the cold, but will use the central heating to take the chill off the room. With the above tariff, discounts for a year and £15 cashback through Energyhelpline, it's coming out that NPower will effectively be paying me to be supplied by them.

For information, I'm not likely to go dual fuel with them to get the extra discount, but they were one of the few suppliers who would quote without a standing charge and offered additional discounts. Even factoring in price increases due to the variable nature, the cost should be minimal.

Can anyone think of anything else I'd have missed here?

Your annual gas consumption is 750Kwh? I find that hard to believe. Unless of course you never run your heating or use any hot water.

It's based on actual reads between the two, exactly one year apart as I took readings on the day I moved in. 67 units on the metric meter.

Hot water is for the power shower each day, gas hobs but an electric oven, and the EPC even though shouldn't really take a great deal of notice was a high A grade.

Wow, impressive. You might do better with someone like Ebico who have a flat rate for gas, 750 kwh would cost around £38, check for yourself.

Even if your only usage of the boiler is to heat your hot water tank daily, it's got to be more than 750kWh pa.
By 'power shower', do you mean an electric shower? If so, this heats it's own hot water. Or do you maybe heat your hot water via an immersion heater?
I agree with penrhyn: you need to get yourself on a low user NSC tariff before the government abolishes them.

Nobody has answered the question. If you use very low amounts (say your house is unoccupied in the winter) such that your charges are less than the amount of npower's direct debit discount, will npower pay you?

Having phoned NPower today, and asked them to confirm it in writing, that would pay the annual direct debit discount. Factoring this in, and comparing with Ebico, I can handle the variable rates on it. I work in a local government area with energy as well, so kind of on the ball with potential price spikes/drops. With the discount, NPower would have to hike their prices by around 25% for Ebico to come in cheaper.

The shower is electric, so it does heat it's own water. Even then, my annual consumption on electricity is coming in at 2628 kWh. This isn't bad considering that we have two work laptops, a high performance PC that gets a fair bit of use, as well as the TV and everything else that comes with it. An average of 7.2KWH/day.

It's probably fair to say the computers do get a fair amount of use, and it's not unheard of for me to be up working until 2am to meet deadlines.

The direct debit discount IS NOT dependant on your usage, basicly your monthly payments min £5/fuel on MDD can be used by npower as guarenteed income for balance sheets etc. and its cheaper than having to process card payments or giro. so they really dont care if you make a few quid paying them by dd because they save more, win-win

Although with very low usage Id pick Quarterly Variable DD so as to prevent going into credit and having to get refund which can take from 3-5 days for up to £499 or 28 days for £500+

    Then allow me :)

nPower will credit your account with the appropriate discounts.

You can ask nPower to refund you accumulated credit.
