Proof of NCB and clarification of drivers occupation

Hi.

I've just received a phone call off my new insurer, asking for proof of my NCB and clarification of drivers occupation.

I'm going to send my renewal notice as proof for my NCB, and he just asked me what my occupation was, i told him. Will that be it, or will i have to send something off as clarification.

Thanks

  • Renewal is certainly the proof of NCD

Not heard of occupation being checked before but I imagine thats all unless they are disputing your selection of occupation. Guess it would be a discussion with them if they say your selection was wrong and you maintain it was correct (esp if your job doesnt give a direct match to one of their options)

Having been involved in a dispute over job titles with an insurer before, I would say it's highly unlikely they want proof of your job title.

After a house move and job change I obviously called my insurer to update them. I had a problem as the operator made a mistake and recorded my job incorrectly, she then refused to update this to the correct job as she said it would look like fraud. To cut a long story short, my problem went all the way to the FOS where the ruling went in my favour. Throughout this, no proof of job title was ever requested. I think they would take what you say in good faith unless they have a real reason to think it isn't true.

Did you mess about trying different ones ? when obtaining a quote .
They break the DPA by keeping information prior to formation of the contract and acting upon it.
    Be happy...;)

That would depend on the terms and conditions given. If fraud prevention or other such uses of the data is given then they would be perfectly within the DPA to use it for such.

Yes they would, AFTER you click to accept the terms and conditions.
    NOT BEFORE.

  • The terms of use of the website and their privacy policy apply from as soon as you start using the website. By using the site you have agreed to those terms, the terms and conditions of the quote is a separate matter and due to the regulation around insurance there is a more explicit click for the agreement

When getting quotes you do agree that the info given is correct before getting the quote!
