Garages in Bristol
Options
I have been having a few problems with my car. Following a recent service, I have been given a list of things which need replacing, including the cambelt and exhaust, looking at about £1K. I would like to get second opinion and alternative quote. Can anyone recommend any good garages in the Bristol area?
Thanks

Its a shame Hampstead Garage has gone now. This business was in Hampstead Road, Brislington for probably 50 years or so. The guy that run it was old fashioned and you received your bill a month after you had the work done, on a type written invoice! He never allowed the mechanics to replace anything that could be repaired. My sister in law took her car in as the clutch had gone, he did it for £10 as it was something small that could be done. Other (unscrupulous) garages would have gone for the new clutch!
Anyway, the poor old 80+ guy died over a year ago and the garage is now boarded up.
We used Moto Tech in Bedminster this week as we know the owner. Hope that helps a little bit.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Thanks for the tips, will give them both a ring.0

I use Knowle garage and also know of an excellent Ford mechanic who works from his own small garage but is very honest.
Knowle garage (opposite the exit to Broadwalk car park) are also good. Friendly, knowledgable and not out to con you!
Out of interest, what's the car in discussion here?0 -
The car in question is a Peugeot 206 X reg. I am currently having a dispute with the dealer where I bought it so I have been looking for a garage for a second opinion on it. I don't trust the dealer's garage anymore so will be getting the repairs done elsewhere and I hope to use the oppertunity to find a decent garage where I can get the repairs done, and its always useful to get opinions from people who have used garages rather than relying on a random selection from the Yellow Pages.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.0 -
Just wanted to say, my Renault needs more work doing and had it booked in today at Renatec, Kings Road, Brislington as our friend is away and he recommended them. Have to say was impressed with them and they are also Renault and Peugeot specialists.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

My family has used Motormend on Charlton Rd, Kingswood for years and been happy. Kerry or Dennis are the chaps to speak to.0

Anyone have any good suggestions for the Bradley Stoke area? Moving there in a few weeks, and I know the old banger will need some care and attention soon0
