After all the discussion about it in the press, strange that the newspapers haven't picked up on this event.
That's because this aspect of pensions are old news - they get too distracted by other different stu.....

Well, that took long enough then. As I understand it, the royal assent was given at the last possible moment along with numerous other bills, due to the closing of parliament for the summer recess. This is done to clear the decks for the new session coming up, which will include the preparations for next year's elections.0
