Laptop not powering on at all

Options
Hi,

Went to turn my laptop on this morning and there is no power to it at all.

Took the battery out and tried just direct power and still no joy. I then tried a spare cable (my other laptop power cable works fine on it too). And still nothing.

Took a little look at harddrive and memory and could see no loose connections.

Just that its strange that even if there is something on there would normally be a power to it and give error code.

Any ideas what might be the issue?

This is going to sound really stupid, but give it a try anyway, especially if it's a Lenovo laptop.

Pull the battery and power cable out.
Hold the power down for about 30 seconds
Plug the battery and power back in.
    Power it back up.

Make and model. google common power related faults

Not unknown for the power connector to break and stop power/charging.

what was the battery level last time you used it?

    Its a HP G6

    Specs are

    Intel I5-2540M.
Integrated INTEL HD Graphics built into CPU.
    8GB DDR3 10600Mhz SO-DIMM (2*4GB)
    500GB HDD
    Windows 7 Home Premium

It's not the power connector as have another laptop which the power connectors works on either laptop.

Battery was fully charged at last visit.

I think he was saying that the power connector on the laptop itself, not on the charger, can fail. This is a common fault on a lot of laptops.

You could try swapping batteries since it seems like you have two of them.. only try this if the batteries are identical.

Did you try the power button thing yet?

And yes you can get 2.5" caddies, though a larger one would also work. For that laptop you almost certainly need a SATA one.
