Trying to get a copy of my ESA85A

I e mailed Atos and they replying saying they've provided medical evidence to the DWP on 20/12/12 without the need for a face to face assessment.

I phoned the DWP requesting a copy of my ESA85A (the form used if an assessment is not deemed necessary) and was on hold for 20 minutes to an 0845 number. When I finally got through the person abruptly told me I'd failed the security questions without even asking me any and then hung up on me!

I rang back and got through to someone else after ages on hold and they said they have no idea what an ESA85A is! Thy transferred me to the migration team who also said they'd never heard of the form :mad::mad: Frustrating!

  • Have you had a decision yet and if so are you needing it for your appeal? If so write into the DWP stating your nat insur number along with your date of birth/address and full name and ask them to send it out to you as you tried phoning them and got told no one had heard of the form and that you cannot afford to wait on a phone for 3/4 hour just to find that out. Make it out to be a complaint (phone calls). Send it to them 1st class and give them 10 days to reply.

I advise this is done anyway, on a yearly basis, as they shred old documents, meaning proving something later may be tricky.
(clearly, for most people this will end up as just a waste of storage space, but I would advise keeping at least a couple of assessments worth of documents, and any helpful documents for longer)
