Can't get DIR-615 to work on Virgin BB

I called Virgin a couple of weeks back due to slow BB speed, and they sent me a D-Link DIR-615 wireless router to replace the wireless function of the SuperHub.

Well, I've spent about 3 hours this evening trying to get it to work, and I've given up.

It came with a "we'll set it all up for you" wizard, but at the end of it there was no internet connection.

I reset my SuperHub to factory and tried again from scratch. Nope.

I tried setting it up manually. Nope.

I've reverted to the SuperHub wireless.

I've previously set up wireless APs, in fact I have a NetGear one running off my Sky Sagem router.

But this one has me stumped.

I'm going to try and see if I can fine a step-by-step procedure to follow, or otherwise it'll just be another piece of junk in a box.

Grr.

You need to put the superhub in modem only mode in order to use a seperate router.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

    Thanks.
The instructions didn't say to do that, but I tried that too - the D-Link setup failed.

Forget the setup CD, it's a waste of space.

Connect PC to Superhub using Cat5.
Login to Superhub via web browser and put Superhub in modem only mode.
    Save & restart.
    Switch Superhub off.
Connect WAN port on D-Link router to Superhub using Cat5.
Connect PC to D-Link router using Cat5.
Switch Superhub on and allow to sync.
Switch router on and allow 20 seconds or so for it to boot.
    Switch PC on.
Open web browser, type in your routers IP address in address bar and configure it from there.

Note that any wired devices should be connected to your router, NOT the Superhub.

    I think I'd twigged that! :)

Thanks a lot for taking the trouble to spell it out.

I thought I had done pretty much that, but perhaps I didn't do each step.

I'll give it a try again later.

The WAN port of router MUST be connected to LAN port 1 of the Superhub - this is the only LAN port active when the Superhub is in modem only mode.
How do I add a signature?

Thanks - yes, I'd got that (and when in modem mode it sets it to 192.168.100.1, or something like that).
