HSBC First Time Buyer Mortgage Booking Fee

Can anyone help me? I was charged £399 by HSBC for a Mortgage Booking Fee but the house fell through and we did not get a mortgage in the end. This booking fee was applied to first time buyers taking a 100% first time graduate mortgage. Can I claim this charge back and if so, how? The claim forms on the 'Reclaiming Bank Charges' part of Martin's site does not seem to apply in this case. I would appreciate any help.

unfortunately you wont be able to get this back as I'm sure if you look in their t&c's it will be non refundable.
you can try but doubt you will succeed.
cue onslaught of on board IFA's......
"why should they refund you"
"it's their right to charge you"
"everyone wants something for nothing"

To the OP
If you apply for another mortgage make sure you ask for this fee to be added to the loan, then if it does not work out in most cases they wont charge you it (but Royal Bank of Scotland do)I am a Mortgage Adviser

Contact HSBC and ask them if you can use the product that you have booked on another house, when you find one.
