Hi, I'm looking for the above. I have a wireless router set up. I am wanting to put a second phone in the office upstairs but dont want to run cabling all over the house - which is why I opted for wireless internet.
i have bought a BT Twintalk so now want to plug both twin talk modules in down stairs next to the phone socket and then connect a cordless phone as the second phone which I can keep upstairs.
Any one know of one which doesn't operate on 2.4Ghz or one which does but won't interfere with the wireless connection?
Thanks for any help

2.4GHz is not used for DECT in the UK so any UK-bought phone should be OK.
The DECT standard governs some key areas such as transmitter power, which is limited to 10 milli-watts and the frequency range, which is 1.88 - 1.9GHz. However, for countries such as the USA where this frequency has been used, already the frequencies 1.91 - 1.93GHz and 2.4GHz have been agreed. There are 10 carrier frequencies, with 1881.792MHz, using intervals of 1.728MHz (highest frequency 1897.344MHz).Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Excellent, so I can pretty much buy any Dect cordless phone then.
Why couldnt BT tell me this? - There customer services told me they had no idea and to buy from their 'Diverse' range (which is the most expensive) and if it didnt work I could send it back and try another one!
Any one have any recommendations on a decent cheap DECT phone for a small office at home?? Nothing too flash or expensive - decent battery life, good range, possibly with caller id???
Thanks for the reply0 -
We have a wireless LAN and use these Philips phones without any issues:

I agree with the above posters. I don't have my Nerd Specifications at hand but I'm certain that DECT works at 1.88GHz. I have not experienced any interference from DECT 'phones with WiFi and I don't think you will either. Wireless Audio/Video senders certainly do interfere with wireless networks (a pet hate of mine as my neighbour has one which nukes my wireless network) but DECT telephones do not. Go ahead and buy your wireless kit safe in the knowledge that your telephones will not cause you problems.0
