Claiming back redundancy

Options
I was made redundant a few years ago and only managed to get half of my redundancy money paid to me by the redundancy agency. The other half I was told had to be paid to me by the owners of the company at the time but that I would only get it once the company had been wound up properly and to do this either I or another company owed money by them had to take them to court to get them wound up. How do I check if this has/had been done? Or is there any other way of getting the money owed to me? Thanks for any help!!

Did you seek a winding up order?

Have you checked on the Companies House website to see whether the company is in existence?

However, if the company was wound up it would have involved paying what it could. Had you bothered to register as a creditor? Where do you think the money would come from if there is no company?

How many years ago were you employed by them?

I have not checked on the Companies House website? Do you mean the company I worked for?

I hadn't registered as a creditor no, I wasn't advised or knew I had to? The company I worked for was a franchise and they ceased trading but didn't have sufficient funds to pay the administration fees so couldn't afford to be wound up properly. Does that make sense? I got advice from Citizens Advice Bureau and managed to get half my entitlement paid by the Redundancy Agency.

I was made redundant two and a half years ago.

Thank you for any help or advice in advance.
