Connecting laptop to TV?

I am trying to connect a laptop to a TV but have a slight issue. The laptop only has a VGA port but the TV does not, it has a HDMI port.

I have done some research and i believe I need a converter like this, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VGA-to-HDMI-HD-TV-adaptor-converter-L-R-Audio-PC-Laptop-RCA-Digital-Analog-Signa-/200841966772?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item2ec31d34b4

Has anyone used these converters before? Do they work and is there a loss in signal quality?

Thanks
