Headphone Problems !

Can i pick the brains of any experts who maybe able to help me fix my headphones/mic. I use it mostly to talk to a friend on Skype but it's died. I was out to get a new one but after loading Skype again i thought it was working. I did the Skype test and could hear the woman then recorded a message which i could hear on playback, so it appears everything is fine but then went onto YouTube and still couldn't hear a thing.
Left IMs on Skype but nobody id online to see if i'm working there yet.
So the question is, should i get a new one tomorrow.

Go into the Sound part of Control Panel in Windows - you need to make sure that you're directing all your computer's sound to that headset, it won't by default - that would explain why Skype works and YouTube won't.0
