HP Printer problem

Options
I have an HP Officejet v45 printer.

I haven't changed the cartridge recently, but now it won't print. It has the message "Error: Incorrect color cartridge installed".

I have taken the cartridge out and put it back in again. I've also tried turning it off at the wall and turning on again. No success!

Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Sarah

I had the same problem on another model, turned out that the printer didn't like recycled/refilled cartridges and now only works with originals
  • Is the correct cartridge installed? I know it sounds obvious, but check the shopping number on the cartridge against the one listed in the manual.

This is the only type of cartridge I have ever used!

Is it possible for the printer to take a sudden dislike?!!
  • Like retuned says, if you use compatibles, this can foul up the printer heads, as the ink used in these can be of inferior quality and not up to manufacturers spec. You you do a head clean using genuine hp cartridges?

Poo. Does that mean I can only buy HP cartridges from now on?

If yes, I imagine these are a lot more expensive?

It is a fairly old printer (about four years old). Cheaper to buy a new one?

Basically, yes it does.mit sounds like the compatible ink you're using has clogged up the print heads. It may be less hassle to get a new one to be honest.

Thanks for advice. Will post soon for advice on a new printer!
  • I would stick with hp. That's what I use and have never had trouble. Just stick with genuine inks next time! :)
