WFTC- what to expect!!

Having found out that my job may be terminated in the next few weeks, I'm trying desperately to figure out where it will leave myself and my family.
We are a daily of 5, 2 adults 3 kids ages between 12 and 1.
Oh works 40 hrs a week at present but has regular over time. When my wage is gone we will be left with an income of approx 16400 a year or approx 1200 per 4 weeks!
I've tried the online calculator and it said that between now and 31st march we could expect £2600. Surely that can't be right!! That's like £250 per week. I nearly fell of my seat.
Can anyone shed some light on the reality of this!!

Surely you have not heard the phrase " we are better off on benefits than working". This was introduced by Labour when they were in power. The main aim was to make sure that people worked less but got paid more. In return all you have to do is vote them back into power.
Thankfully the Tories are in power and they are trying to swing the axe on this kind of misuse of benefits. In the future we could expect able bodied people to go out and hunt for a job instead of sitting at home enjoying the benefits.0 -
I was truly shocked. In reality I could have stayed at home and brought my kids up instead of working!!! I thought it was a misprint or something.
I hope to not be without a job for long but it could keep us going while I look.
Any idea if you have to register your self as looking for WFTCOnly the Mortgage to go!!!0 -

It does sound like too much to be honest. Are you sure everything is correct?0 -
Your income for this year will be the £16,400 plus what you have earnt between 6th April until your job ends ... so 10 months worth?
but I second double checking the figures, the maximum for 3 children with no childcare or disability is £240 a week if the income being calculated from is around £5k

I knew it couldn't be right..! I didn't put my income in!! As it will be gone. But having read some more threads I've realised that it's based on the previous years incomes.
Seems somewhat unfair! That we won't get help for over a year!!
What if your not surviving??Only the Mortgage to go!!!0 -
They will initially base it on the previous years income but you can ask for them to base it on an estimate of the current years (which will be the total household income for the year) the danger with that is, if you were in the same position in April when the new claim goes in, with one income and get it based on £16,400 and you start a new job there will be an overpayment that would need to be repaid0
