Hello
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Ace. The problem is, in the notification bar there's an update for Google Maps but when when it starts downloading, it comes up "insufficient storage available".
I have a 2GB SD card. I've had a look at the storage settings and this is what it says.
SD Card
Total Space - 1.84 GB
Available Space - 1.71 GB
Internal Phone Storage
21.52MB
So there's loads of space on the SD Card, so i don't get why it's coming up with that message.
Can anyone help?

Its that lack of internal memory thats doing it, thats were the apps go. Google maps is quite large and it needs room to unpack the update to install it.
You need to make some room, uninstall any apps you don't really need.
Not sure which version of Android you have on the Samsung, probably Froyo or Gingerbread? Go to settings manage applications and select each app in turn and see if there is a 'move to SD' button, if there is use it and work your way through all the apps doing it if possible. That should free enough to have another go at installing maps.0 -
I've had the same trouble with my Ace. If you get an app called App2SD it can move some apps that are saved on your phone to SD and freeing up some space. It also allows you to clear the cache too which usually frees up a few more MB's.Lurker extraordinaire :cool:0

Go to applications and move everything you can to the SD card (tbh I'd get a larger card, 16GB micros SD's are around £6-8 these days)0

It's a serious shortcoming of the phone and many apps will only run from internal memory.
The options already described just about cover everything you can do. A friend of mine also had an Ace and sold it because of that very reason.0 -
Try this forum :-

They provide lots of helpful info. You may find that changing the version of the Android OS you are using may help. A lot of the providers (Orange for example) load extra carp into the OS which can make the problem worse. Have a read of the forum.0
