Vent: Snow!

Nothing wrong with a bit of snow. It's the whingers I hate:
"I haven't seen a gritter/snowplough all week."
That's because they're out at night and doing the motorways, A Roads, School and Hospital routes during the day. And when they go past you're probably not looking. Are they meant to park outside your house and beep their horn?
"The pavement outside is like an ice rink."
Well clear it! I have 3 elderly neigbours and in my cul-de-sac I clear about 200m of pavements, their drives and footpaths, my own drive and footpath and 2 wheel tracks down the middle of the cul-de-sac.
"I lived in [insert Nordic country]. They keep the roads and trains running."
Yes they have more snow than us. We don't pay enough Council Tax to keep a fleet of 5,000 gritters for a few days of snow.
"The schools close at the drop of a snowflake."
There are dumb people who sue schools who have icy surfaces and God forbid snow in the playground.
"There are cars stuck near a hill causing chaos."
If there's a steep hill there is probably a salt/grit bin nearby. Those who are stuck probably have phat 20 inch alloy wheels that look good or they are too MSE and have bald/low tread tyres. Vent your anger at these muppets.

The airport in Vegas closes as they don't have de-icing equipment for planes there, at least we get planes in & out of this country!

The school I work at wouldn't have done a while ago (have a new head now, and they are a bit more lenient than the previous one).0 -
You left out all those people who panic buy enough groceries to last until spring for 2 days of snow.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

And indeed those who complain about minor grammatical points such as the difference between "there" and "they are"0 -

Psst! I've got some pints of milk available - £5 each, and loaves of bread £10.

That's a beautifully-formatted and well-phrased post (post #1) and has been thanked in acknowledgement.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Well I'm in mixed minds.
The fella's bought his first 4wd and was looking forward to trying it in the snow.
The lass is getting her wheelchair tomorrow at last, I'm sure she'd like to have a go on clear pavement rather than snow.
Woke up this morning to everything white and thought, "oooooooooooh nooooooooooooo!" But it's all gone now, so hopefully the lass will get some practice in her chair before it comes back
