either disable this service using services.msc

    O23 - Service: Freemake Improver - Freemake - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Freemake\FreemakeUtilsService\FreemakeUtilsSe rvice.exe

or uninstall freemake, and if you need it reinstall but remove the "help improve freemaker" tick box on installation

    disable these services using services.msc

O23 - Service: Adobe Flash Player Update Service (AdobeFlashPlayerUpdateSvc) - Adobe Systems Incorporated - C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerUpda teService.exe

    microsoft .net optimisation service.

there appears to be remnants of avg, use the removal tool http://www.avg.com/gb-en/utilities

delete the google update task from c:\windows\tasks

tick and fix these using hijackthis

Thanks Closed, I appreciate your time and help.

    Have unistalled freemake for now.

I have disabled the item below using services.msc

O23 - Service: Adobe Flash Player Update Service (AdobeFlashPlayerUpdateSvc) - Adobe Systems Incorporated - C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerUpda teService.exe

There is no 'microsoft .net optimisation service.' under services.msc only 'Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X86'. I have not changed anything at this stage, any ideas?

I have downloaded and used the avg removal tool successfully.

I have deleted the google update tasks from c:\windows\tasks

tick and fix these using hijackthis - done

have you changed your dns servers to comodo - not sure what you mean by this?

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{1EFD1B9A-299A-4AF8-A639-200773E95DC9}: NameServer = 8.26.56.26,156.154.70.22
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{1EFD1B9A-299A-4AF8-A639-200773E95DC9}: NameServer = 8.26.56.26,156.154.70.22
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{1EFD1B9A-299A-4AF8-A639-200773E95DC9}: NameServer = 8.26.56.26,156.154.70.22

    this is a bit odd

O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'c:\program files\bonjour\mdnsnsp.dll' missing

    has anything happened with bonjour?
I have itunes on my pc only to play the music that was left on the hd when i bought the pc from my brother. So i uninstalled the iphone support service this afternoon - do you think this is causing the problem? I didn't think that i needed it as I have just bought an htc phone

name server is the server your machine uses to convert a web address to it's ip address, the name server is usually one of your isp's, and managed by the router, but somehow your system is bypassing the default and pointing to comodo's servers, possibly as a result of installing comodo, not sure. not a big deal if the machine is working, but makes you log longer.

you could try disabling 'Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X86', and if you notice any problems put it back, it was just to stop the mscoresvw from running and hogging the cpu at boot.

if bonjour appears in add/remove programs you could uninstall it

    did you install cleanmem?

whats the performance like after a reboot now, and what's the commit charge

could you post a new log.

if malwarebytes finds anything, fix before closing

I use orange for my home bb and have a livebox 9050. Is it a big deal to move this away from comodo now that i no longer use the program?

Have disabled Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X86' for now and will keep an eye on things.

    Have uninstalled bonjour for now

    did you install cleanmem? yes

whats the performance like after a reboot now: a noticeable change, probably by about 40%
and what's the commit charge: 485336

no harm in leaving the nameserver really, it could be changed to your router ip if you want, it's buried in the tcpip settings

chrome tends to use more ram than IE, which will be adding to your commit charge

cleanmem minimonitor doesn't need to be running all the time if the cleanmem task has been added in c:\windows\tasks

google update task is still there.

after that there's a few services that could be disabled or set to manual, but no big deal, macrium, skype and uphclean

suggest creating a macrium backup when you've finished.
