Car iinsurance charges

I took out a car policy with Swinton, for £352.00, in December and had to cancel it on 10.01.13 as my car had engine trouble and was not worth repairing. When i called to cancel the policy , Swinton wants to charge me £120!!
Is there any way i can dispute this.

Ask them for a breakdown of all charges and costs involved in writing.
Compare these to the Terms and Conditions (Which you should have been given when you arranged cover) http://www.swinton.co.uk/terms
Bear in mind that the Insurer may also be making some kind of charge which will be shown in your Policy under a section titled "Cancelling your cover" (Or similar).
Also bear in mind that all the extra covers eg Legal, Breakdown and Personal Accident etc Swinton sold you are normally non refundable.0 -
Challenge them and ask for a breakdown in charges. We only charge 25 quid to cancel0
