hi guys,

so just wanted to give another warning and uodate on the arnold clark saga.

I called the East kilbride branch again and yet again I got the dumb woman on the other end. She tried to tell me that the arnold clark full service for a toyota 40,000 miles service was £391!! When I asked about the fixed price toyota service she told me that the toyota service wont be complete and the arnold clark service will be fully comprihensive.
When I questioned her on it, she insisted she was right and the toyota service wasnt the best......so service and MOT would come to about £450..

Called another branch who happily told me the fixed sevice price without me asking and when I asked about the £390 one, said the fixed price one would be fine..... it means i need to travel a bit further which isnt ideal but at least i get some half decent people.

ARNOLD CLARK..YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED WITH YOURSELVES!!:(

I think a nice letter to toyota head office is in order.

Toyota fixed price service is only availble at Toyota approved dealers.

There are 5 Toyota approved Arnold Clark garages within 17 miles of East Kilbride to choose from. The nearest non Arnold Clark Toyota approved garage is in Falkirk.

EDIT: Why start a new thread? You have been given good advice here > https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4362317
Why go to Arnold Clark? There are several other independent garages to choose from in East Kilbride. I hope you are still not driving this car, as it seems your MOT has now expired?

East Kilbride Arnold Clark offer three levels of fixed price servicing and prices are on their website. Pick the cheapest and book on line - how simple is that?

You'd be surprised, they will care if Arnold Clark is one of their dealers. They like to hear feedback.

    hi missile,

i wasnt asking for more advice. i was simply just posting what the east kilbride branch said after I informed them of the advice I had been given..

Didnt realise that would be a bad thing to do....

toyota might care...as the arnold clark branch is an approved toyota dealer....and they are giving wrong info about toyota products....

also my MOT does not expire until the 31st Jan... I have chcked the dvla/other website

I am not the forum police, you can do whatever you want. I was merely suggesting that it would be better to stick to one post for one subject. This will save the good people on this forum addressing a question which has already been asked and answered.

East Kilbride Arnold Clark offer three standards of fixed price service for you Toyota. It is up to you to decide which option you want.

These options are clearly itemised on their website, so I really don't understand what your complaint is? Perhaps the receptionist did not explain these options to you properly?

I believe Arnold Clark have advised you the MOT has expired and you have lost the MOT certificate. I would not feel comfortable depending on the DVLA website.

Please note: my comments are for advice only, feel free to ignore them.

Surely it's now OK to go to any garage for a service and not just your own dealer? As long as genuine manufactures parts are used if needed then all should be OK. Try your local garage for a price. I use a little place and the staff are really good. When I got my new car in Sept '10 the manager recommended that I have my first service with the dealer just in case there were any problems but then I can continue to go to them. Did the same with my previous car so am really happy not to pay the sometimes over-the-top dealership prices.

I used to live in good old EK... many moons ago and long before the Plaza was roofed over. (don't miss the place!)

missile, i think this was a bit of s misunderstanding.
i am complaining due to the receptionist person lying about what is involved. i have lost trust in that placd if this is how they act. i cant do it online (as far as im aware as i need a loan car). &i have chosen to go with another arnold clark as they told me of the fixed price before i even asked.

this is more a question for my piece of mind as now im just worried. why shoukx i not trust thedvla website? they have the date of my last mot correct.....should i stoll be worried?

Hi, I am only trying to help.
If you can remember when your MOT is due and this is confirmed on the DVLA site then you should be fine. If required, one can obtain a duplicate certificate.
It is not uncommon for mistakes on DVLA website, they are only human. Several people have reported being stopped by police because their details were entered incorrectly.
