Any ideas? Can't send email from iPhone or iPad

Can anyone help with this please. I have iPhone 5 & iPad 2, both of which receive email but neither will send email.
My broadband was originally provided by tiscali
I changed this to BT but kept my tiscali address for business purposes
iPhone & iPad receive emails no problem but won't send email

I've spoken to apple both in store & on phone but no one can solve the problem. I've also checked various apple forums but no luck there either.
Does anyone here have any ideas please?
If you are offering a solution can you please make it step by step as I'm capable but not techie minded:)
Thank you

    Does this help?
  • You probably need to change your outgoing mail server.

Thank you so much for the reply and the link. I'll give it a try tomorrow when I have time to try it properly & let you know.fingers crossed :-) thanks again
  • I had to sort out similar problems for my gf's sis with her talktalk email (tiscali are now owned by talk talk) After lots of searching I found a set of instructions to follow that sorted it out... will dig it out later when it's feasible to wake her up as the link is on her ipad I think. If I remember correctly it was mostly to do with the outgoing server port having to be changed to Port 25... there were a couple of funny steps to get this setup up though...
  • Found it...

    Settings,
    Choose Mail,Contacts, Calendars>

    Add Account
    Choose: Other
    Add Mail Account>

    Name : Joe Blogs
    Email: JoeBlogs@tiscali.co.uk
    Password: *********
    Description: Tiscali
    Choose [Next]
    Looking up Account ....
    Choose IMAP

    change host name to IMAP.TISCALI.CO.UK
    NEXT ...... Verifying
Choose NO , when you get the Cannot Connect Using SSL

    NEXT
    Choose SAVE
    SAVE
Go to the Tiscali Mail option and open the settings

    Click on Account,

    Go to Advanced

and turn OFF the Use SSL setting,

and change the Server Port to 143
    Go Back to <Account]

Click on the Outgoing server SMTP
Click on the smtp.tiscali.co.uk option and check the outgoing settings
    Choose the Primary Server>

Turn OFF the use ssl setting
Chang e the server Port to 25

    Select DONE
    Go back to <Account]
    Select DONE

Comment... The really important things are
    A. Letting the iPhone wizard fail the SSL test first time round and saving the Settings - then going back in and setting the SSL and Port settings for IMAP and SMTP separately

    B. Getting the IMAP settings for OFF SSL and the PORT 143
    C. Getting OFF SSL in SMTP and the port set to 25
