Should I send my statements when claiming?

Just a quick query: Should I send copies of all my statements (and I've got a fair few, so I'd rather not) with the charges highlighted to my bank with the first claim letter, or should I just summarise on, say, an Excel spreadsheet with the date debited from my account and total charge amount on it? My bank is HSBC out of interest.

Many thanks in advance,
Daz

I used the calculator on this website, saved it into a document, printed it out and sent that. Means I have a short neat document to send to the bank and a copy for me. I kept the list the bank sent me safe. My letter was hand delivered to the bank on the Sunday evening just under two weeks ago - had a refusal letter today so its the next step for me. Im doing this on behalf of the OH and son.
I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.

    Hiya,

Don't send the statements - a list detailing:
amount of charge/date of charge/statutory interest on charge/sum reclaimed
and keep the statements for yourself because you'll need them if it goes to court.

  • Many thanks for the advice, and johnbfan - good luck with your claim!
