My PC is ancient and I feel a new one is needed.
Can anyone recommend one for no more than £350.
It is needed mainly for doing home study and for my daughter to play her PC games on. Also for music/photos and internet browsing.
I'm assuming Windows 8 is the way to go too.
Any recommendations would be great as they all look much the same for me. All the different processors etc are confusing:o

ok a lot of cases you can fix a slow computer by following Closed's how to speed up a slow or infected computer thread which is stickied at the top of the techie forum
otherwise
what type of games does your daughter play?
are you after a fully system with a monitor keyboard and mouse etc or are you going to use your current monitor etc?Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I'm just after the tower as I can use the old screen and I already have a wireless keyboard and mouse.
I have had my current pc fixed/upgraded so many times that I just would rather have a new one.
My daughter mainly plays Sims games on the PC, she has every version going I reckon! So as long as that runs well she'll be happy!0 -
laptop? then you have 2!!

that does come with windows 7. it should also play sims games

bit more bang for your buck with that one although you would need to buy an operating system to go with unless you already have one0 -
What kind of monitor do you have now?
For £350, you can buy a tower unit, OS and a decent 23" IPS monitor.
New Tower unit from £150. Windows 8 £25. 23" IPS monitor £130.
So still a bit left for a better Tower unit.0 -
Just slightly over budget but has Windows 7 included and would be suitable for some games (though you want have to sped twice as much for a top end gaming PC).

Personally I'd avoid Windows 8. Its really only works best of a tablet or one of the new breed of touch screen transforming notebooks.0 -
Thanks for your help.:)
The Zoostorm one looks good. I have not heard of that make so was a bit wary. Just wondering what sort of thing I need to look out for in the spec in general when looking for pc's that will run my daughters Sims games?
Regarding Windows 8, I just assumed that it would be best to look for the latest versions of Windows so had been ignoring Windows 7 PC's, but if it isn't that vital then I will include Windows 7 in my search.
Screen wise, mine is functional but not brilliant and is only small so if any bundles come up on deal with a new screen I will consider it.:)0 -

add to baseket, apply this coupon

takes it to £360.46
use topcashback or quidco and their dell voucher codes to get more off.

or just backup data, and resinstall the os on your existing one, and it will work like new. if it's got a factory restore partition, this can take as little as 10 minutes.

The SIMs doesn't require anything special. If you don't mind installing your own OS and don't mind tweaking Windows 8 to your taste, I would recommend taking my route.
If you don't like the Windows 8 interface, it's easy to change it0
