It could affect the amount of money your mum receives. Is she getting an increase in her Pension Credit for a severe disability? If she is, then when you claim Carers Allowance that will stop.

This is explained in the links in 2.0 -
Kathrynt, I think she would. My MIL gets practically the same benefits. We were not aware that her pension credit included a disability allowance. When my husband claimed carers allowance of £58, her benefit dropped by the same amount. Because we were unsure what to do ( to reverse it probably would mean that MIL would have to reapply all over again and all the hassle that would involve) we give her back £58pw. Its not worth claiming, because theoretically my husband gets carers allowance so this prevents him from getting JSA.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

There is no other financial help available for carers, would you be able to take full time work and still do what you need to do for your mum? If not this could cause you problems with DWP on making a JSA claim."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

No, there is nothing else you can claim.
She is receiving a very healthy amount of money - perhaps she needs some help with budgeting if she feels she cannot cope on less?0 -
