The tanks 40 litres, But if you fill it like some people do you can easily get 50 litres in there, Maybe a bit more.

Seriously if it was using that fuel when running not just tickover for hours whilst parked it would not be running after a few days. The spark plugs would be fouled so bad they wouldnt fire properly.

Not running a cylinder down is it?

Power for motorway driving? Anything with more than 40bhp can confortably cope with motorways.
If you think the KA is bad wait til you try a 1.6 or 1.8 petrol focus.

Also good point about a failing turbo! I'm guessing not even a used replacement would do due to the labour costs involved in fitting?

Your talking (depending on the car) say 400 for a recon turbo and 100 for the extras and oil then 500+ for labour.... you can't get it done cheap as any poor work can cause it to fail catastrophically..... (they spin at 10,000 rpm, any lack of lubricant or parts/bits of metal)
Do feel like i need to replace the car though. I hate taking it on the motorway not just for comfort reasons, it's not got the power needed for motorway driving.

You may be thinking that the ka must be cheap on insurance - and it is - but bigger more powerful cars in far higher insurance groups cost virtually the same insurance wise.

Your probably at an age it doesn't matter much....my insurance for a BMW 330D is quite reasonable :D (or I wouldn't be driving it)....

I guess power is only part of it.... I've driven 2CV's on motorway to France. Its all possible.... but its not the same driving experience as a 'real car'.

As my Dad used to say 'it's how you feel at the other end'.
Last year I drove into a work location and a colleague was going on about the high winds and treacherous driving conditions.... I'd been driving the Honda Accord and quite honestly hadn't even noticed!

My OH only fairly recently learned to drive and was nervous about longer trips and for the 1st time made on at XMAS, after she said how it was nowhere near as hard as she thought.... and I commented it would have been a different story in a small 1.4 car.

@ newfoundglory, correct me if I'm wrong buy are you talking about the overall feel of the car on a motorway? I'm guessing you are used to more substantial cars and with a change in life decided to give the Ka a go for economy but it just doesn't feel right and its not so economic as you perhaps thought?

Picked my old neighbours up yesterday who bought a Yaris or something when they retired.... and was told the same thing!
How he misses his old 'real cars'.....
