Cant Connect Netgear WNCE2001any advice please

Options
Hi all

I brought a new blu ray home cinema system for Xmas which is wireless.
Instead of paying an over the top price for the panasonic wireless dongle to connect it to my internet at home i brought a

Netgear WNCE2001 Universal WIFI Adaptor.

However after connecting it to my windows 7 laptop and running through the setup of it it wont connect to my home nework, it picks it up during the setup but when it trys to connect to my network at the end i just keep getting

"not connected, move device closer to router and try again"

Ive moved to within inches of my router and i stil get the same message.
I even tried setting it up throught my windows xp desktop but just comes back with the same message.

My router is a BT Home Hub 2 would it be some kind of setting in there i need to change?

Does anyone have any advice on how to connect this to my home network please?

So much for "plug and play" :(

Many thanks

I'm not too familiar with home hubs. They might have a wireless paring button you need to press just before you try and add a new wireless device to it.

Am I missing something here.... why do you need a universal wifi adapter if the bluray player is wireless?
How do I add a signature?
  • yes it is wireless, but i need to buy a adaptop to make it wireless, it dosent have built in wireless like the next model up has.

My Homehub does not have a wps button to pair them

    Any more help please?
  • Hi,
I use this Netgear to connect my router to my HD Freesat box which then displays I player, Itv player etc,

Normally, it works like a charm with perfect pictures . No need for a recorder( Far too expensive anyway)

Occasionally, I find it will not connect with warning message saying my box is not connected to the Internet although it should be connected!

I solve this problem by switching off the Netgear for about 1 min and rebooting and rebooting the Router also. Never fails !
I think it has something to do with handshake timing.
  • I cannot even get it to connect to my wireless during the setup stage.
  • If the Netgear setup wizard is showing the SSID for your network then make sure you are entering the passkey correctly :-)
Pay close attention to case and watch out for zeros and letter o .

Also make sure your laptop isnt wirelessly connected to the home hub, during the setup.
  • Yep done it all

Anyway i took it back to pc world this afternoon, money back.

Nipped into Tesco and brought some homeplugs, all connected in less than 2 mins!!!

    Cheers guys
